Politically correct and overall uninspiring series

This feels more like 4,5 hours of propaganda than a tv series. It's cringeworthingly obvious how the story and characters weren't given much thought. The series is unexciting and dull, and the characters feel artificial. The acting also feels artificial at times, which is the product of bad writing and not bad actors.
I don't know if the writer of this series was running ut of work and decided to use the well known technique of being overly politically correct to get back in business, but it's a hot guess...

This is not Mr. Robot, a flashy House of Cards or even River. This is a British crime drama of the old school, as they've been done for decades, which at least caught my attention in the most positive sense. Not sure where the propaganda is meant to be. Or where the overly politically correctness is...?

An introduction of the characters, disparate but clearly in some way connected. Providing the catalyst – the body of a young man murdered over thirty five years ago that sparks the action. This is normal people you would meet everyday, there's sadness and lots of realism. The characters are real people, it's great acting and a wonderful pace, that's why I like it so much.

Maybe this is for a specific type of audience, and it's obviously not for you. I find it both touching and honest with powerful performances, you know – real life.

The OP does not explain what he or she meant by "politically correct " . It is usually a code phrase used to mean " There are Black or Asian , Gay or Disabled characters ". Well that is how it is in real life and this top-drawer drama reflects that fact.

I am a big fan of police dramas and this is one of the best.

It does feel like it contains political propaganda, of the left side, not that I'm against it, but I don't like it shoveled in my mouth in a crime series. It kind of bugged me.

Most English shows are PC propaganda factories. Actually just most shows in general now. They forego interesting characters and storylines to push their agendas.

ooh i'm learning already, I didnt know Political correctness was the preserve of labour voters (thats what im assuming a Leftie is)

here's the two definitions:
Propaganda:
"information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view."
PC:
"the avoidance of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against."

So you are asserting that not insulting groups of people who are socially disadvantaged is Labour party policy and that most British TV puts out "misleading information" to promote the idea of not insulting people.
..and also that right wing people do not believe in PC?

PC Propaganda is a bore is what I am saying. No point in having arguments with people like yourself. Discussions would be preferred but that of course is impossible.
