Why run? Spoilers

Spoilers...

I couldn't understand when Maria was crying over her friend, so I didn't hear why Anna? (The red head) ran? Did she say? I didn't think at that point the Germans knew of her connection to the men, so why run?

reply

I agree that the Germans didn't suspect her (why would they?). So why did she run? The short answered is she panicked. Panic makes you do stupid things.

reply

She would have gotten an indication they were on to her. If she panicked that was why.

She was a real person and active in the resistance, she did not just flip out because she suddenly saw a Nazi, they were well entrenched in the city. Clearly she was used to rubbing shoulders with them.

As a poster said below she died in a camp a few months later. Personally I do not know when she was apprehended. Based on the fact that we know there was at least one trader that talked and others who talked under torture, it isn't difficult to imagine that the Germans were looking for her specifically.

Not sure spoiler warnings are needed for a movie based on historical events. Now that really is dumbing things down for people.

I'm guessing because it's possible the two women were made-up characters for the story - therefore even a detailed written account would not have ruined anything. And even if they were, knowing ahead of time that the redhead dies diminishes the intensity of her character's demise.

...and Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lotta ice, whenever he's away

You say:

You have a point, but for some people who do not already know about the historical event in question, watching a film about that event is their way of learning about it. I had not known about this incident, and yes, I did look it up on Wikipedia first, but you can't expect everyone to do the same.

Excellent point about Titanic vs Leo distinction. Pretty much everyone knows that the ship sinks, but the fictional part of the story still qualifies for spoilers.
