Not up to par

I felt this film wasn't up to par with some of the other accomplished films of WW2 genre.
Visually, it was able to evoke atmosphere and tension but in all other areas it just fell flat.
The acting from Cillian Murphy was good (as it always is with him) but on everyone else it was below average.
The film's editing was all over the place, bunny-hopping here and there that broke simply broke the mood.

But the biggest problem is probably how little I was moved by the characters.
They were shallow. Walking cardboard of a plot devices that turned emotional whenever the plot wanted them to be.
At the end of the film, I hardly knew any of them.
Who were Jan and Josef? I don't know. Do you?
