Jamie Dornan's comeback?

I first saw Jamie Dornan in The Fall, he plays that part brilliantly. The fact that he chooses roles that may be disliked, controversial characters tells me that he's a committed and serious actor. I didn't care for 50 shades, that movie is trash, but he's eye candy in that one and that's a redeeming factor for some of us. It doesn't hurt when a talented actor is also good looking ^^

Dornan has nothing to prove. His acting skills are wonderful. Everything I've seen, The Fall, Marie Antoinette, Once Upon a Time, FSOG, (yes, I include this as well, people who've made the comment about his lack of emotion, etc., did NOT under the character or the story and the fact that the parts of this movie that do show real emotion by Dornan were left on the cutting room floor and can only be seen on uTube, (The Rave, X-Returns, both are film shorts), I didn't include Racing Hearts only because this was earlier in his career and his Irish accent occasionally bleeds through, shows a young actor who's skill grow with everything he done. This is really not a criticism however, because I know in my personal life how hard it is for an adult to change the way he speaks his entire life to something else. My own mother spoke, wrote and read three languages fluently, however, she could never quite rid herself of her birth accent.

Did he take a risk with FSOG, yes, but a calculated one that I think will ultimately turn out in his favor. Until that movie he widely unknown in the US. Once the entire trilogy is complete people should wait to judge.

Well, sc_taylor, Jamie Dornan has been nominated for an award for his role in "Anthropoid" by the British Independent Film Awards for best supporting actor.

I am glad I went into this film without any prior knowledge of the actors/director ahead of viewing. The story sounded compelling, and the film delivered. Outstanding drama, with some tough to watch scenes (I watched this on a flight from London to SF, and I broke down afterward, poor choice for me since it was such an intense watch), but poignant, heart stopping. I recall thinking "Hmm, this guy has Armie Hammer good looks but this one can act!". I am not a 50SOG fan, finding the story sophomoric and boring, so nothing to cloud my judgement here. I can find no criticism. Was his performance Oscar worthy? Maybe not, but the entire film was wrapped up tightly. Excellent film.
