Brida's Child [Possible Spoilers]

So, I assume the child Brida has is Uhtred's? That was my immediate thought when they show her bathing in the water after they part ways.

Can someone who read the books tell me? When does he find out?Why haven't they shown the child yet? Do they end up fighting each other in battle?

I binged this show over the weekend. I like it, liked the first half of the season better. Uhtred is hot and enjoyable to watch. His character is very immature, but since he's 20 or so, that makes sense.

The romances are empty. I only see a close connection with Brida, but even that is pushing it. The show presents the other two as if he really loved them. More like attraction. The emptiness may have to do with just an 8 ep season. I was happy to see the "Melisandre" wannabe go. Perhaps the characters in the books have more depth? King Alfred has the most depth.

The characters in the novels have more depth, but to be honest, most of the women only just a little more (with a few exceptions). I think cramming two novels into eight episodes didn't really help the depth of characters or their relationships.

I seem to remember that Brida was unable to have any children after she had the miscarriage when she was 14 (and that child was Uhtred's). It's been a while since I read the novel though.

There's a scene in the ep where they part and they show her bathing in a lake, she turns and is very pregnant. This is after the miscarriage, the next ep I believe. The ep description says that Brida has a "secret." I believe it's to make us believe that it's Uhtred's child. If it wasn't in the books, maybe the showrunners added it.

I'd have to watch the episode again, because I really can't remember this. Perhaps someone else can answer your question.

Are you talking about episode 3? After Uhtred is married? That's Mildrith who's pregnant, not Brida.

Yup, you're right. It's in ep4. She looks a lot like Brida from the side, so thought it was. Mystery solved.

That's Mildreth bathing in the lake, not Brida.
