Well, I still have to read novel number 9 but he was alive and kicking (well, sort of) at the end of number eight. He's not going to die any time soon.

Jon Snow is short (actor: 1,73m / 5' 8"), while Uthred is in the range of normal (actor: 1,78m /5' 10").
Snow is dead, Uthred still alive.
Snow failed his commander, his farther, his family, his order, Uthred was too little to save his father, but at least he was riding into battle; but he fought for his king, and he served him well.
Snow is an Oathbreaker, Uthred is not.
Even accepting death as punsihment if demanded.
Uthred > Snow
Uhtred knew how to deal with the Bolton bastard.
