Michael Bay needs to make more like this and less like the Transformers

Action and intensity was absolutely spot on, there was a little a bit over the top patriotism but didn't really bother me.
He nailed this one.

I don't know who shoots action better? The mortar scene was awesome. Reminded me of the scene in Pearl Harbor when the bomb flew out of the plane onto the ship.

Pretty sad when people see a movie like this and claim over the top patriotism. I can't think of a single overtly patriotic scene other than perhaps the shot of the American flag laying in the pool which was unbelievably subtle and can only be called patriotic through viewer interpretation. The entire movie can be considered an ode to the American spirit, but if that's your complaint then you're basically saying it's bad to portray Americans in a positive light. The days 'back when' were great, when Hollywood worked hand in hand with the military to produce amazing patriotic films like They Were Expendable or any of John Wayne's military movies. Believing America and Americans are great isn't about blind jingoistic egotistical nationalistic fervor, this is about being proud of what our country has fought for since inception, freedom and the pursuit of happiness, valuing the will of the people and being strong in mind and spirit, with solid values and enduring faith regardless of religion or lack thereof. We salute our flag and yell our patriotic slogans and thank our military members so frequently that they think it's humorous, but these are all representations of our core values and beliefs and valuing our country and the flag and those who fight for it is how we show our support for the values that all of these things represent. America is the greatest country this world has ever seen because of these values and the people who embrace them and who are willing to fight for them.

I'm not an American but I believe that Hollywood should be able to make ANY United States military movie except Based on a True Story as patriotic as they want but stick to the exact to the real events/facts! Why? Because Hollywood is where United States films are wrote, produced and the market they are trying to reach. Where the most of the ticket sales and cable streaming money is made.
If you're from another country then it's up to you and your National Film Council with Grants to produce a patriotic films for your nation's military!

Furthermore The Pentagon has it's own media/film department which will approve and either provide funding and/or military hardware and troops if they are happy with the script. Black Hawk Down and Top Gun are the two most famous movies that have been funded by the US Department of Defence and increased recruitment numbers. I do not like in Lone Survivor the artistic licence from Peter Berg and and that Marcus Luttrell gave approval to show a massive shootout of a village at the end of the movie with AH-64 Apaches on strafing runs when in real life it was an anti-climatic rescue my US Army Rangers!

Some films that were not given any support by the military include: The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, and Platoon. None of these films should be a surprise as they each took a firmly anti-war stance.

If you are not willing to give up everything, you have already lost
