Selective blindness?
I was wondering if the Blind Man wasn't totally blind. Total blindness, ie complete absence of vision, is actually very rare. My guess is he had some remaining vision (perhaps peripheral) which enabled him to see some things and not others. Eg in a fully lit house or in daylight he might be able to see a lot more than in a dark house; this could explain why he was able to find the parked car so easily and to catch the girl.
