Half way through the movie the blind guy starting using his sense of smell to locate people. But earlier in the movie, he literally couldn't smell or sense people that were standing a foot away from him.
shareThis bugged me a bit too. They could have easily fixed this by having him simply stumble into the shoes rather than sniffing them from a room away.
I guess we can assume that none of the characters was wearing cologne or anything like that.
You also have to assume that they didnt shat or piss themselves either.

I was thinking the same thing. When you loose one of your senses then 1 or all of the others are functioning at full capacity which means he should have sensed and smelled those outsiders. I was also thinking he would've heard them when they first approached the house. They were having a full blown conversation/argument prior to breaking the glass.
