8.2 at the time of writing?? Are you ******* kidding me??
This has got to be the most predictable overdramatic piece of **** of a "horror" movie that has come out in a very long time. It literally uses every cliche in the book, drags along with needless repetitive scenes of boredom, and has no redeeming moments whatsoever.
For a usually trustworthy IMDb, seeing classics of the genre like Blair Witch with a 6.4 and crap like this with an 8.2 is outrageous!!
Do NOT waste your time with this movie if you're the type who likes movies with intelligence, an original plot, followable storyline, suspenseful drama or even likeable/relatable characters.
If you're the type who prefers cheap thrills above everything else, by all means go ahead.
No it really isn't. So many great modern movies are around with very clever and original plots and effective scare sequences that are anything but predictable. Sadly they remain relatively unknown because of a lack of publicity, while tripe like this gets a larger audience.
I don't think it was bad. I think we already got this movie this year (Green Room) but it was a good suspense movie. I'd say it's a solid point higher than it should be.
A lot of it was unbelievable. Many people point to the twist and how he managed to obtain her being blind, but I think the biggest mistake was being set in Detroit, and having a scene where police show up in minutes. Lol. I'm from Detroit, that never happens.
"Look at me im a hipster, only indie horror is good, oh look hollywood finally makes a horror film thats good like indie horror oh wait its hollywood, i hate hollywood i'll bash this film with false remarks"
It's funny because this same person probably thinks It Follows and The Witch are bad movie too. Trolls can't be satisfied. They will always complain to make their opinions stand out
You mean like people walking through the woods for an hour and a half?
6.4 is actually way too generous for that movie.
Classic? Yeah, I guess. But classic doesn't necessarily mean good. And personally I cared much more for the characters in Don't Breathe than I did for the idiots in Blair Witch. Maybe they weren't as likeable, since they were trying to rob a blind guy, but at least their motives were clearly established and they didn't stumble around aimlessly and whine the entire time. I mean, yeah, I guess technically they stumbled around, but they did it with purpose and actually put up a fight instead of bitching constantly and being resigned to their fate. Also, they displayed way more intelligence and ingenuity.
And as far as comparing the movies on a technical level, Don't Breathe wins in a landslide. There were smartly implemented sound cues, proper lighting, smooth cinematography -- especially that long take at the beginning where the camera lingered on certain objects and places that would become important later in the story -- and just in general looked much better than Blair Witch. And yes, I get that Blair Witch was an independently produced found footage film and was supposed to look amateurish and raw, so comparing the technical aspects may not be fair, but my point still stands that Don't Breathe was a more aesthetically appealing movie to watch.

Technically these things are important and I suppose you're right in that the movie was up to par on a technical level. But technicalities do not a good movie make - it was boring.
Yes, it was completely predictable that once they got trapped in the house they would find the woman that killed the blind man's daughter trapped in the basement.
Maybe try thinking about what you're about to say (or write) before you do it.
Completely agree, OP. My papi was going apesh!t the whole time, yelling at the characters in the movie. That's how you know a horror movie is garbage with lazy/predictable writing.
IMDb is not the most trustworthy source in the world. But I still gave this movie a solid 7/10.
There are some necessary moments of suspended disbelief, as well as a few potential moments of doubt or high unlikeliness, but in all honesty it's been one of the best horror/suspense movies that I've seen in recent memory.
Yes, I picked up on many plot holes, but it was so fun and nonstop thrills that the entertainment never stopped.
It reminded me of Final Destination in many abstract ways.
Compared to two recent horror films I saw this year- the Witch and the one about the boy and his crazy mom (I forget the name already- it was okay), this was far better for me. Totally entertaining.
