Falling Out The Barred Window?

WTF? Did the dog seriously push him so hard that he broke the bars...?

My thoughts exactly. Easily one of the biggest plot hole wtf moments for me.

That window wasn't barred. It was covered with wood. You can see the pieces of wood next to Alex after he falls. The other window in the room was barred so they figured that one was barred as well.

It doesn't make a difference, he wouldn't have just fallen through a sheet of ply wood that easily and if it was that easy to break why wouldn't they just have done that to escape?

He looked at the boarded up window and thought there was no way out, but when he was forced through the window it became apparent the boards were not that strong and broke when enough force was applied to them.

But the amount of force applied would not have been able to break through a pane of glass and a layer of ply-wood. He went through the window like there was nothing there.

You have no idea what force is required for that window and boards. The window could have already been cracked, looked like a single pane of glass, the boards could be rotten or not fixed to the house very well...all we know is that he went through it, if it had been bars it would be unbelievable, or a brick wall etc...but a pane of glass and some wooden boards? Seems OK to me.

Yeah I guess it's not that big of a deal. He might have just put it there for show.

I think the bigger problem would be why he didn't go straight through the skylight that he landed on? But its a film and its there to add tension and drama...its kind of the point of films I guess 

The problem is in assuming that there would be bars behind the wood. Think about it, if you were trapped in this room with no apparent escape, and someone wanting to kill your right outside the door, wouldn't you explore every means possible? I would think they would at least try to kick through it or whatever.
