Well they presumably havent found her body that was hidden under the floor in some kind of liquid.

There is bound to be other evidence that they would run into if they looked long enough. There's no way that he could keep her captive without leaving some sort of evidence behind. We know that her blood is on the floor near the stairs.

The room on its own is weird, but not incriminating. Given the guys history though, they are bound to come to the conclusion that he was the one who kidnapped the missing girl who was responsible for his daughters death.
