Abandoned neighborhood?

It was filmed in Detroit. Probably 8 Mile. People don't get involved in bad neighborhoods. Plenty of abandoned housets tosell drugs or do whatever illegal things you want to do. The cops are even too afraid to go in some neighborhoods because they are so bad.

When there are no jobs folks move away. By the amount of cash he had stashed away he prob owned the house and refused to leave cause he didn't need to. Hell wouldn't be suprised if he had bought up the lot. If I was him (not the crazy parts) I would have done so too.

There are many areas that are now ghost towns that use to be busy living areas when industries died or moved on.

Sadly I live 45 min from Detroit and I have drove around a lot of these neighborhoods... Seems unreal but I once drove I kid you not 5 min without even seeing another human being..... I saw 2 packs of wild dogs. I wish i was kidding. Feels like a nuke was let loose there and they never rebuilt.

Is it Iraq or something?

Actually not uncommon for Detroit. It is failed city, people are abandoning their homes and yeah homes are actually being swallowed up by the earth. Some still cling, but otherwise Detroit is kind of a ghost town, in the poorer areas.

China,India,etc took the manufacturing among other things.So you have cities,towns around US that are ghost towns.If it wasn't for government/military a lot more towns would die.
