...who are trying to prove their supposed intelligence by splitting hairs over the use of this term ("that was not a plot hole"... "that was also not a plot hole") -- I've had it up to here with you.
This film has plot holes -- yes, PLOT HOLES (look up the definition) -- that you could fly a jumbo jet through. There's no need to reiterate those that have already been identified by tzar_simeon and others. It's a shame that such a well-made film had to violate so many rules of logic and common sense. As I was watching it I actually felt angry at its sheer stupidity, even as I was being engrossed by it.
Dog getting inside a locked house Guy falling through a barred window that previously was locking them in Police not finding the torture turkey baster rape dungeon
1 He let the dog inside when he went outside to get at them through the basement door which was by the dog house. 2 It broke so what. 3 Who says they didn't?
he went out and let the dog back in...no plot hole....
guy fell through some wooden plannks and not a steel bar...that was the other window...not a plot hole
police might have found it but since when does police have the warrant to search rob victims houses unless they want them to? and if they did, he could just say that is my porn corner for my call girls that I call home from time to time...not a plot hole...
if you think these are plot holes then youre a bigger retard than OP....
police might have found it but since when does police have the warrant to search rob victims houses unless they want them to?
Well the police would definitely have the authority to search the rest of the house after two people were killed in it.
I think they probably found the turkey baster though, and are conducting an investigation. We saw a news station reporting on the robbery at the end. The news is only going to know what the cops told them. There is bound to be other sketchy things in the basement, and the police are likely in the middle of an investigation that will lead to the blind guy's arrest. The fact that it wasnt reported by the news doesnt mean that the police didnt find anything.

I bet that you dont even understand the meaning of the word plot hole
And here we have one of the aforementioned smartasses in the, um, flesh. A genius who stepped squarely into his (her?) own stercus. Thank you for emphasizing my point better than even I could have done on my own.
Ho hum... well, since you insist on parsing the according-to-Hoyle meaning of "plot hole", all in the service of defending a movie that you apparently love so much that you would kill for it (sad), here is what comes up when doing a simple Google search (emphasis added):
"In fiction, a plot hole, plothole or plot error is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot. Such inconsistencies include such things as illogical or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline."
But wait, that goes against YOUR definition! And since you are the all-seeing, all-knowing, and all-defining master of all that is "hole-y" then that definition is to be disregarded, or at least twisted to suit your narrative.
Nope, thanks for playing. I think we're done here. reply share
felstein you retard....there isnt any plot holes in this *beep* movie...get a *beep* brain and rewatch it...there is some less realistic events yes but no means a plot hole anywhere...
Oh JEEZUS, I honest to God cannot take one more second of you!
Please Google don't breathe plot holes. But wait, these professional critics must be "retards", right? BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL USING THE TERM PLOT HOLES!!!
What it all boils down to is... the movie was full of stupid incidents that defied credibility. So WHAT THE F DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE WHAT THEY'RE CALLED?!?!?! Call them plot holes, call them logic lapses, call them cheddar cheese, whatever. The fact that you have to bend over backwards and forwards to try and justify them ("fill them in" as it were... but WAIT, that would make them... HOLES!) indicates that someone at the screenplay/directing/continuity level was asleep at the switch.
Still not plot holes just because some 12 year old retarded kid have written an essay about it on the internet called plot holes of Dont Breathe...if you dont understand what plot holes really is, then I feel sorry for you and sure, Im done here aswell...btw...I am the biggest critic on these boards when it comes to unrealistic details and plot holes but in this movie I didnt find anything that couldt be explained if you just used your brain, sure some of the things might been alittle exaggerating but small things like that you can find in every movie you see...dont ever watch an action movie of any kind if you wanna whine on the even smallest unplausible thing...
Your bolded words in the quote are out of context. The previous sentence is key to those words: They refer to something illogical or impossible if that goes against the logic and reality established in the film. So a lightsaber is impossible, but not if the film explains in its reality they are possible for example.
You mention i can see some of these plot holes by simply googling "Don't breathe potholes'. So i did. Here is one that tells me that the film is ruined by plot holes....then doesn't mention any of them.
So all this article mentions is the sleeping gas didn't knock the old guy out, and he can't smell the intruders. Neither are plot holes as they both have simple explanations and don't go against anything established in the film. The film doesn't tell us the gas is fool proof knock out stuff, it looks like a home made botched up thing made by Money, who we know is an idiot. And the film doesn't tell us the old man has 'super' smell, he just happens to smell some shoes...but other then that he doesn't display any super smelling abilities...maybe those shoes really smelt bad?
Another ones promises to uncover the potholes that riddle the film, but again its examples are not plot holes. Its lists the intruders not killing the old man, not escaping when they could do, why the old man keeps the money in his house and not in a bank...oh 'and other things'. In terms of movie critiques they are badly written and dumb, but most of all they don't describe a single plot hole despite proclaiming them in their titles.
So why don't you explain in your own words what the plot holes are?
For me the only thing i can honestly think of would be his house alarm being hooked up to the police...but it could be that the alarm was setup before he became a kidnapper and general nutjob and he forgot or something like that...but it is a very big mistake to make. But as horror films require us to suspend disbelief, i can let this one possible plot hole go.
"I'll hit you with so many rights you'll be begging for a left."
MarwoodWalks...Good post but I think I have an idea about that alarm, he got it many years before anything happend to feel safe in his house and why would he get rid of the alarm? if it goes off and the cops comes, why would they even check the basement? nothing wrong with having an alarm even though he was a kidnapper or when he became a kidnapper, he might have turned it off...cant see this as a plot hole either.
I think you are right, the alarm is not a legitimate plot hole, but for me its the only thing i can think of that comes close. Of course all the old mans actions or inactions can be explained away by the fact he was a nutjob.
I am sure the OP will reply with all the actual plot holes that the smartasses have missed...we will see.
"I'll hit you with so many rights you'll be begging for a left."
the only one I thought of that makes sense, but perhaps I missed it, was her shoes.
Did she ever get them back on? Cops would have found them. But they may think they were the captors also.
How could the cops know it was her shoes? If he didnt file a complaint of a robbery or any other crime except that two intruders broke in, why should they even search the whole house? they doesnt have the rights to search the house just because he shoot two intruders...just bag em and get them out of there and second, I think he took the shoes and hid them once he smelled them...why would he leave them in the kitchen for the robbers to be able to go back and get them? Not a plot hole.
~If the realistic details fails, the movie fails~ reply share
The biggest plot hole was Old Man being blind and keeping a woman captive and raping her. How did he know what she looked like to keep her captive yet rape her.
If you want to convince people that this movie was filled with plot holes, why don't you list them? All you posted was a rant about people being dumb.
For something to be a plot hole, it has to be a very clear contradiction that cant be easily explained away. Many of the things that I have seen people mention are situations that seem unlikely to be realistic, but arent definitive enough to be considered a plot hole.
For example: How did the blind guy kidnap the girl who killed his daughter? I've seen people say that this is a plot hole. It certainly would be hard to kidnap someone without your vision, but there are plenty of perfectly reasonable explanations that could this. Its only a plot hole if there is no reasonable explanation that doesnt contradict other parts of the story.
