I'm a little disturbed by people who say they have no sympathy for the

thieves.

Granted, the thieves are terrible people and they deserved to be arrested and put in jail for awhile.

But just because you break into someone's house doesn't mean they're allowed to trap you in the house and hunt you down like an animal. That goes way beyond defending yourself and your home and into the homicidal maniac territory.

reply

I don't have sympathy for them. They are breaking into the house of a blind war veteran who lives alone off the proceeds of his daughter's death. And they want to take all his money, the only thing he has left. Forget the rapist story. What they did was pure evil and unimaginable.

Not only were they taking everything the old man had, they were putting Alex's father's livelihood at stake (in Detroit where it is not exactly easy to get another job). You want to break into a defenceless man's home, you deserve what you get.

reply

I udnerstand your point but with all due respect they needed the money..wlel okay Rocky did.....you must be a *beep*

No, I am just someone who has been desperate and all alone and in dire need of money in my life and I had to work my a** off in terrible jobs to get it. How did you know that the old man (at the beginning of the money) didn't need the money to survive? What if he had nothing else? Who do you think it would be easier for to get money in that position? A young healthy girl or a senile blind man? Sorry, some of us actually work 14 hour days in fast food jobs to live. We don't steal from the elderly and disabled.

Hey, you know----to be honest I ORIGINALLY had NO symphathy (first viewing) and I sitll do not at all sympathise one bit with MONEY--who wanted his namesake, I gottsa say..

Yeah, but she was a child murderer.

I don't care about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies.

Other than the innocent "kid" dying and the profanities, I agree with your core sentiment. Way too much rationalizing going on justifying unacceptable, immoral behavior by all of the characters...with the exception of the aforementioned innocent child.

I had sympathy for the blind dude. Lost his daughter because some bitch, lost the bitch because some dumb girl. And the *beep* had no right at whining, cause it was their fault.

Zero sympathy for the thieves. What should the old guy have done? Let them walk out and threaten his safety and steal his livelihood (money)?

I love how the ending makes it seem like we're so relieved the stupid blonde bitch gets away and starts a new life... BULLCRAP. Harming other people and stealing from others and causing them to feel unsafe and possibly experience psychological issues?

I was rooting for the vet to kill all 3. Yes he was not a good guy either by kidnapping his daughter's murderer, but that doesn't give a free pass to 3 criminals who are out wrecking other people's lives.

What if you came home. All your stuff was stolen, some *beep* jizzed on your floor... locks/windows broken, place is vandalized. Guarantee if you could face the person who did that and had a gun in your hand you'd want to pull the trigger.

I have a .45 with hollow points right in my nightstand. Someone breaks in, he/she is not leaving.

>and possibly experience psychological issues?

I think the blind man had plenty of that to begin with.

Looks like you do as well.

Even in 2016 there seems to be so little room for moral ambiguity in movie characters.

People just want straight up good guys and bad guys so they don't have to think.

Bit of a shame really.

Any "good guys" (protagonists) with shades of grey and we get these "I have no sympathy for them" threads like every protagonist should be some paradigm of virtue and all things good and moral. The majority of movies will be dumbed down for the masses as long as those people make up the majority of the movie going public so, thanks alot! You're the reason movies like this don't come around too often.

Even in 2016

Oh god, the current year argument.

Well, now its 2017, the blind man was a hero and entirely justified.

I would have capped them and ask questions later. What's wrong with that?

Whats wrong with that is that it is an insane proposition, however given that you use an avatar of Joker that may not be that far off your court.
