Your defective sense of judgment and your inability to discern which of two evils, one involving kidnapping, rape, and murder and the other involving theft, is greater unsettle me.
BIG SPOILERS BELOW*********************
Yes, the Blind Man was very much evil, but Rocky, Alex and Money went a little beyond theft. They started out knowing they were stealing from a disabled veteran and probably taking all the money he had in the world. That's not the same as stealing some jewelry, probably insured, from a rich person's house.
As far as we could tell, Money was conscienceless psychopath. Alex was the most sympathetic character in the movie, but he was also dim-witted and thinking with his little head, not his big head.
Rocky, in particular, was a selfish and terrible person. She used the fact that Alex had a crush on her to entice him into participating in something he didn't want to do, something that was both wrong and dangerous. She manipulated him into risking at least a long prison sentence; they knew that much going in. Later, when he could have escaped quietly and left her to her fate, Alex - sad, sweet, pathetic, friend-zoned Alex - rescues her from the Blind Man, an act that ultimately leads to his death.
After all that, saying "Oh, Alex, I'm so sorry [that I got you killed]" isn't quite enough.
Pasting on a transparent, comic-book motive doesn't help either, except to let the filmmakers show the hot chick in a sympathetic light. If she were older or unattractive, they would have felt free to portray her as evil as she actually was.
I was not rooting for the Blind Man, but I was the rooting for the dog.
