What was amazing was Ryo was playing the Raza crew, including the gynoid. Beginning with Ep11 where he was playing the guessing game with Nyx at the Station, that was all for show. The ladies took it all in with his predictability and failure to predict.

Then throughout Ep12, we were shown each crew member's take on the Four's facade. Gynoid was thrilled she was being a good friend! Several felt uneasy and only Five felt frightened. Yet they all took part, predictably, in saving him and his empire. He truly was learning from Nyx.

The ending rivaled Game of Thrones wedding massacre. In that one, seeing the mother killed was horrific. In this one, seeing the brother killed was just as horrific.

Again we get a Game of Thrones mention. I just hope the writers realize this isn't that show. There is already mentions of another character going bad. I just hope they leave us someone to actually root for.

I honestly did not expect Ryo to kill his brother. His brother was a pawn as much as he was. BUT he was the one challenge to the thrown so, in the GOT tradition, removing all threats was the thing to do.

Where do we stand now? Predictions: Ryo will stay on his home world but the Raza crew may be forced to remain and the android land the ship so the blink drive can be reverse engineered,or at least taken out of the Raza to be. Once completed, Ryo could then let them go and become a re-occurring character; ultimately having to face his old crew in some sort of showdown.

Another possibility is the android could have a "control switch" safety switch she added to his memories so that if he went all old school she could remove his memories. That would, though, in my opinion stretch the believably boundaries beyond their limit (even with a show set in a fictional universe where the human mind can act like a computer and have memories uploads\downloaded, etc). Even if, the damage would have been done and leaving Ryo's world without a ruler during a time of war would be devastating.

ANOTHER scenario could be what we saw was all a SIMULATION run in Five's mind, with the psychic's help, to show Ryo what probably would happen. She had some of Ryo's memories in her head of the palace and as a precaution or whatever the android hooked them all up to create a most likely scenario. The psych corp folks being involved was not foreseen so that would be psychic girl adding in her own drama to the mix.

We'll see next week... I hope.

As for 4's brother he learned from the alternate reality 3 that 4's brother would turn Zion into a democracy.

With the emotive chip, Gynoid is unpredictable. There is the possibility she will prevent Ryo from further harming her, the crew and the ship. Ryo could take comfort that Zairon is freed, and the Raza crew will help him save his empire without a fleet of blink drive ships as Six had envisioned. AND, Zairon can be their HQ.

Hiro's and Nyx's brother's deaths are troublesome. But, the Raza crew are all criminals. They can hardly go moralistic on Ryo.

So do you think Ryo did something to her to get her to follow his orders? They had a conversation, but unless it happened off screen he did not mess with her chips or any such thing.

reply

Ryo did not order Gynoid to do anything. Any action Gynoid took was ordered by Two. Ryo asked Gynoid for help in accessing his memories on the chip. As I wrote elsewhere, Ryo predicted correctly emotive Gynoid was eager to help, and she will be 'faulty' in that she has no algorithm to deal with decisions made emotively; that is, there is no moral conscience - strictly logic.

With that said, she may have unspoken skepticism of Four. Just as she shared skepticism and threat with Six, she could take out Four if he posed a threat to her crew and ship. That would be a nice telegraphed twist.

Sadly everything you write is negated by your use of the name Gynoid. Who the f is that?? I figured out you meant the Android but no one has of yet determined a name for it. Unless it used that name in the bar scene episode a while back and you are just being clever. Ha ha ha

reply

Not clever, pedantic. In a technical sense, an "Android" is a male-looking humanoid robot, while a "Gynoid" is a female-looking humanoid robot. But language is a fluid thing. If an overwhelming number of people use the term "Android" to refer to a humanoid robot regardless of sex, then "Android" is the correct term.

reply

In three comments in this thread you confusingly referred to a mysterious character named "gynoid". It took me a while that you meant the ship's android.

If you don't want to follow the example of all the characters on the show, and call it the android, you could call it the "ship's robot", or even the "girl android".

As an automaton, it is, of course, neither male nor female.

I am going to encourage you to, either, not call the automaton "gynoid", at least not without one explanation per thread, as to what the term means. We all come here to exchange ideas, and that is harder when we use terms we can anticipate will confuse other readers.

Cheers!

This whole season is awesome!
So much going on. I love it!

Ryo did what he had to do because the Raza crew would not have given him the blink drive which he desperately needs to win the war.

He's the only reason I kept binging season one on Netflix. I'm glad his story is more prominent this season. Let's hope they don't decide to kill him.
