Is it possible for anyone to die on the show?

If a main character like one died, and they got his alternate double, or used the teleport pods to make a new body, couldn't they just download a new copy of him/her into the new body? It would be like resetting that person to when they originally woke up at the start of the series.

You've always got the possibility of other versions of the characters turning up from the alternate universe - after all, the other Raza's shuttle attached itself to the original one when it crossed back into this universe and then took off who knew where. Unless they're going to forget about that completely (in the which case there wouldn't have been much point including it in the first place), I would suspect that whoever was aboard that shuttle will show up some time in the next series. In any case, if you've got one alternate universe out there, stopping at just one doesn't make any sense - there could be an infinite number of them, containing an infinite number of alternative versions of the characters.

You know, I never really thought about that but I suppose it is possible and they could have kidnapped Jace Corso and put One's memories into his head but that would have defeated the purpose of killing One off in the first place and I think with Dark Matter most characters that are killed off will stay dead.

Aside from the fact that storage of a personality seems problematic in the DM universe, clones only last like 72 hours. They then forget everything unless they go back to their original bodies. He wouldn't have one. This would not seem a viable solution

reply

As of now that was a function of transport clones not normal ones.

Err ... One is dead ? So is Jayce Corso.

One is dead.

Jace Corso is dead.

Of course, we don't know if the alternate universe shuttle had Jace Corso, Derrick Moss, or neither of them on board.

Recall that Derrick Moss wanted Marcus Boone dead. Taking out Boone and Lin on the planet with a tac nuke would have made sense.

Apart from what a previous person posted about the clone only lasting 72 hours, the idea of a person being kept alive in a machine raises an ethical debate.

At the start of season 2, two, three, and four. All had their personalities over written by the neural network. They were reset at the end of the episode by five, but it raises the question - Did she kill those 3 people? If you accept the argument that a person can be transferred into a clone body and be alive, then five murdered those personalities.

We have already had a main character die: 1.

It is possible that his alternate was an occupant of the shuttle that attached to the Raza when they returned to their own reality but even then he would not be the same character.

As to the "teleport pods" you misunderstand how they work. First it is not teleportation, but rather the remote creation of a clone that only lives for 3 days unless killed before hand. Secondly,it would appear that you need a live body to clone and so I do not know how it is possible to make a new 1.
