shareIf Clint is indeed retiring as Hawkeye, there are only two original Avengers left, and one of them has wrapped up his issues and doesn't need to take his anger out on supervillains any more.
Thor is the only one still out there having adventures, and Sam and Bucky are no substitute for Cap and Tony.
Bucky deserved the shield way more than Sam. Leave Sam as Falcon.
shareBucky is a mess, too much of a mess to be able to fill Captain America's shoes. He needs to fix himself first, and then work on finding out what's going on with other people, and then work on how he can help other people without doing more harm than good.
Sam's already worked that out, and he's good, decent, helpful, and compassionate man who's willing to fight for what's right - that is what makes someone worthy of the Shield! I mean it doesn't make him a fascinating screen character, but it makes him worthy to follow in Rogers's footsteps.
I can't help but laugh at this since in the comics the team has members constantly leaving and other new characters take their place. I guess my advice to you is don't ever read the original Avengers comics. Cause in issue 17 Thor and Iron Man leave the team and then a few issues after that Wasp and Ant Man leave the team (they were founding members in the comics) so that the team for quite a while consists only of Captain America, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver.
shareLeaving the team is not the same as what went down in the films. It's much different. Particularly Tony and Natasha.
