Could Endgame be done without time travel?

Time travel was inevitable for this movie. Infinity War already setup the stakes so high that there was no other way to go other than time travel.

But I am interested to know how you could have done this movie without the time travel angle. Mainly because time travel always opens up more questions inevitably.

One way I can think of is some sort of quest to find a dragon ball type maguffin and wish it all back. I’m not sure if such a device exists in the Marvel cannon though.

There are at least 2 types of effective time travel in the movie.

1) Nebula's uplink latency. There would be no boss-fight in the end if Nebula couldn't send information faster than light. Tony uses the same type of time travel for a few times in the MCU, his relative speed towards carrier networks (for example on a launching space ship) wouldn't allow the calls he makes.

2) The writer's ego type of time travel. When you've written your story into a corner, but your ego lets you assume that you and your work are just too good to start over again. It's a kind of hybris and a common thing among artists, not their fault. It's the publisher/studio's fault to accept it.

Could it be done without? Sure. Marvel isn't bound to cause and effect, they get away with worse ex machina moments.

It was one of the stones so it was chosen as a use for the story. There was other stone ways of using but I think this stone gave the best use in using.
