serious question if me saying "2 Billion Is Floor" and Predicting 2.4 to 2.5 B+ is Major Pawnage?

What are the chances of this beating WW?
nil or zero?
^ is this like SUPER MAJOR PAWNAGE?
I mean if were playing the Pawnage game...I got to admit...I think I clearly win here....
I think YOU CREATING A Thread where you give CM ZERO chance to hit 1 Billion Or Beat WW is pretty much GAME.SET.MATCH is the Pawnage Game
thanks for playing though....
Serious ownage.
shareIt all depends how it behaves internationally the next weeks , domestically it will outgross Avatar $760 mil. for sure , it will probably end at around $800-820 mil. , it needs to make at least another $420-430 mil. internationally
share800-820? lol, no. 850m is the bottom. 875 more likely. 900m possibly. it needs another 350m internationally.
sharecompletely agree....
EG is heading way past 800 820 M
If EG just Performed like GOTG2 its got another 240 M to Make domestically...
If EG Performed like CM its got another 275 Million to make domestically....
I see 875 M ish total for EG
China's got another 40 Millon Left
So remaining overseas market would ONLY Need 310 M....
I did the Math on IW overseas....
IW was at 1.160 Billion at the same point in time...
It had made 710 M+ overseas through this point in time
IW Finished with 1.369 B Overseas...
That Means from This point on It made an additional 659 M Overseas...
We have to subtract the 367 Million of that Though because of China, Which IW opened in week 3...
So IW made an Additional 292 Million from all remaining overseas markets from This exact point on(Excluding China)...
EG is currently Pacing ahead of IW all Markets Overseas....IW made 292 Million from this point on from overseas markets....EG should have NO PROBLEM making another 300 M
Avatar is completely doable...not guaranteed but doable
250 M+ domestic
40 M from China
300 Million + remaining overseas markets
Beats it by just $1 million. That's the weekend estimate, official could go up or down.
shareIf Endgame tops Avatar, you can't blame inflation. The price of a ticket today is not that much higher than in Avatar's day. Meanwhile, films today face far more obstacles when it comes to revenue than in the past that at the very least it evens things out. More realistically, a film earning $2.8 billion today is more impressive than one doing so in 2009, especially one with all of Avatar's built-in advantages.
shareavatar is just a weird one. It had a 10x OW multiplier. I remember I eventually went to see it after months of people telling me it was amazing, even though it looked crap. So I ended up seeing it at the cinema, and it was crap. The 3D was novel at least. I think a lot of people are in the same situation.
shareI've still not had the chance to see it. I was traveling when it came out, so I was unaware it even existed until about a year after its release. And yes, it benefited immensely from the 3D. Not only did it command higher ticket prices, as it was something that pretty much everyone watched in 3D, but it was also the first of the "3D that looks real" films, so it was something many people saw simply to check out the 3D. This is reminiscent of the way a decade earlier Titanic had benefited from massive amounts of people seeing the film simply to check out the then-revolutionary CGI. Say what you will about the poor quality of his films, James Cameron has a knack for parlaying interest new cinematic technologies into ticket sales.
shareWas the CGI revolutionary? I thought Jurassic Park was the first CGI effects driven blockbuster. Than came out 4 years earlier.
I think Cameron has a knack of making films that have a kind of action/spectacle aspect that appeals to men, and mixing it with a romance aspect that appeals to women. Both Titanic and Avatar do this.
My main memories of Titanic, another blockbuster I've yet to see, are
1. The CGI is cutting edge. It really looks like the ship is sinking. You have to see it just for that. -- attracted the action film crowd.
2. Leonardo di Caprio is soooo hot. omg we have to go see it at least 10 times. -- attracted the teen and tween female audience.
3. It's up for Oscars! Must see it. Or see it again. -- attracted the arthouse crowd.
I can't think of any other film that ever pulled 3 utterly massive, and disparate audiences, the way Titanic did.
I remember seeing Titanic In Theaters Twice when I was a kid(10 years old)
I didnt even know about the film until 2 weeks before its release...
My dad was always A Giant Titanic Buff and fascinated with anything Titanic...
we heard about it on the radio 2 weeks before it came out and then my dad started reading about it, I remember reading the review in The Paper the weekend it came out, I even remember the picture they used in the paper for the review with the ship half way submerged....
2 things stick out...when remembering seeing the film...
1. I remember my dad, whispering to his girlfriend during the NUDE scene "should I take him Out of here" referring to me...
and 2. I remember even at 10, Knowing I was seeing something truly remarkable when The Ship was Sinking...
I didnt know much about Hollywood or movies then...but I remember having the thought "Wow this is incredibly, It really looks like its sinking"
I then saw it again with my mom and sister a week later...
This time, I really enjoyed the middle portion of the film where Jack was handcuffed to the Pole and They were then trying to work thier way to the deck and The water was filling up the ship....I just thought it was incredible.
I've probably watch Titanic 30 or 40 times in My Life...
I enjoy it every time...
It was my dads favorite movie Until 2012....
and Then The Avengers took over his #1 spot and Titanic was #2...
Titanic Will always feel special to me....
It was really the first time I ever understood what a Blockbuster was and what box office was
Yeah, Avatar was crap. Despite being the biggest money maker ever, it had no lasting impact on pulp culture, either. You don't hear people talking about the main character or cosplaying as the aliens or any references in other works. Hell, the fact that I can't even name the main character or the alien race despite having seen the movie is telling.
shareThe main character was Matt Daemon I think. And the race of blue aliens were the Apachigons.
shareAll I remember is “unobtainium”.
sharethe movie or the ship.
shareOfficial Box Office shows it's $5m over Titanic. Only $600m to #1!
