Deadline Predicts 180m 2nd Weekend

"Industry estimates expect Avengers: Endgame to clock over $180M in its second weekend, maybe even more, on its way to the best second weekend of all-time for a pic, a record currently owned by Force Awakens ($149.2M)"

Incidentally, that would put its second weekend in the all time top 10 weekends.

If Endgame has a SUB 50% hold in its 2nd weekend as analysts are predicting...Its OVER!

EG Will Shatter the domestic box office record....

I almost think a Sub 50% hold is impossible....Opening to 357 Million and then having a Sub 50% is just something I cant comprehend right now....

but I couldnt comprehend a 357 Million OW this time last week either...

MOST Event films, have a 55 to 60% 2nd weekend drop....

I expect EG to be around 55%...

and Then after its second weekend, I expect the A+ cinemascore to really kick in and EG to have Sub 50% holds from then on out...

but man if EG has a 180 M 2nd week...honestly that might be more shocking to me than its opening weekend...It would suggest WOM and repeat viewing is truly off the Charts!

Then it should at around $650-660 mil domestically over the next weekend , it should quickly top Black Panther and has a good shot at topping TFA

May get 1 billion domestically

my first thought was that a 50% hold is a bridge too far, in defiance of how box office ought to perform by any rational measure.

but then i think...there were nothing but sold out screenings this past weekend.
there are a lot of people who probably didn't go last weekend because they wanted a crack at a decent seat rather than being stuck in the front row.
& there are a lot of people who want to see it again in a packed theatre just to get that fan-boy buzz.

i tend to be too conservative in my predictions.
and i certainly won't peg myself to predicting a $180m 2nd weekend.
but criminy, upon reflection i think it's a distinct possibility.
