Does the infinity wars event (Thanos' finger snap) happen in the comic books as well ?

Curios to know how it played out in the comics? Who died, who survived and how was it handled?

Or is the Thanos Snap an original Russo brothers concept?

It happened even before Thanos met the Avengers. In fact, the Avengers knew that something is not right because half of living being vanished.

Comic-book Thanos is more esoteric and nonsensical and entangled with many many more extremely imaginative (silly) celestial beings. The story would put off any casual MCU moviegoers.
