Best film of the year (so far)

(no spoilers) I went and saw Avengers: Endgame today. It was a fantastic epic, filled with thrilling adventure, lots of humour, and plenty of heart. The whole cast was excellent and the film is extremely well crafted. It was a satisfying, entertaining celebration of the Marvel cinematic universe and its characters. Avengers: Endgame is the best film of the year (so far). My rating is a perfect 10/10.

Shhh... that kind of talk will get the naysayers up in arms. Ah, let them! :D Endgame has rightfully earned all the critical acclaim and fan recognition any film can get. Snob cinephiles to even *some* genuine fans of this franchise may be annoyed/perplexed by all the praise it’s getting, but sucks for them.

With that said, I concur. It is hands down the best (to me). And quite frankly, right now I doubt any upcoming film this year.... I’m psyched for John Wick 3, Far From Home, The New Mutants (*maybe* it’ll be released this year), The Lion King, Terminator: Dark Fate, The Irishman, etc... will end up topping this colossal spectacle that truly defines the term “cinematic” for me.

Endgame was without question everything I had hoped for and so much more. Not only is it a great and satisfying conclusion to The Infinity Saga (technically it isn’t the final installment in this phase, though you know what I mean), but genre labels aside it is an exceptional film. A superbly made emotional roller coaster. .

Yeah that was no easy task, quite an accomplishment actually considering all the movies released this year (so far) have been masterpieces.

i've actually had a fairly sparse year as far as seeing new films. i believe endgame is only the 13th film i've seen released in 2019.

i watched about 140 2018 films, so i'll have to pick up the pace to see that many this year.

endgame is certainly my favourite film i've seen this year.

i really loved the apollo 11 documentary, might even rate it above endgame at the end of the day, but it's a very different animal of course, almost impossible to compare the two.

i thought endgame, for all it had to accomplish, couldn't have been made any better. it was funny (genuinely funny! marvel films usually only get a chuckle out of me. i truly laughed several times), exciting, thrilling even, & honestly touching & moving.

the best thing about it is they really took the time with characters, didn't rush through things. i like infinity war a lot, love it even, but it was just a rush through a series of action moments. this really gave us time with people & true emotional payoffs.

i loved it. going back tomorrow. hope i catch the howard the duck cameo this time.
