The original iterations of Captain Marvel (Ms Marvel and Mar-Vell) were actually pretty good. Monica Rambeau again was a solid character and should have been the charcater they used for the MCU.
Unfortunately they choose the current woke version even down to the Justin Beiber haircut, this is why it has needed to be rebooted again due to bad sales and basically being universally disliked but Marvel Comics keeps pushing her as this all powerful amazing character. Even the latest reboot Captain Marvel #1 the first page is just in your face as to how awesome she is and there is no one better than her, she has no weakness whatsoever even Superman has Kryptonite. The whole comic is basically Captain Marvel vs Mr Toxic Masculinity with his sidekick kid Misogyny. It won't sell and will be rebooted again at some point. Get the message Marvel comics, no one likes her or wants her, it really is that simple.
Being Disney though and as we have seen with the destruction of Star Wars they needed there woke character to continue this annoying push of building woman up by pushing men down, really needs hastagging and get it over with. Which is compounded by there actress of choice who actually is perfectly cast as Captain Marvel. Both annoying as hell, both are not very interesting, both have no emotion or facial expressions. Raising your eyebrow constantly doesn't class as emotion or range, it is her one acting move, if she isn't doing that she is basically staring blankly into space.
She could have been a good character. But they just skipped the heroes journey which she doesn't have. She has no romantic entanglment with anyone. Everyone she meets (in the comics) is just there to say how awesome she is, even the latest version in the first 2-3 pages she is told how amazing she is by just being there As said earlier she has no weakness, none at all. This is how you write a bad character, good characters have emotion, have weaknesses, have struggles to overcome, have demons to fight against, she doesn't and never will.
