What a way to end a legacy , brilliant ending, great movie , however I preferred Infinity War, more action , End Game was a bit slow at times, nether the less, It was brilliant , loved how they brought back old characters, the ending was brilliant, gutted no more Stark and Rodgers , great way to end it for them though. Solid 8 out of 10, Infinity War I gave a 9
The Last hour of Endgame is the greatest hour in CBM history....and IMO maybe the greatest hour in movie history...
But I feel Infinity War is the overall better movie.
I think I personally Like Endgame more....It reminds me So MUCH of Return of The King, where I feel It truly Is the absolute Perfect Ending, Return of The King is the only thing I can remotely compare it to where A Movie/story and DOZENS of characters ark are completed and finished With absolute Mastery ...
but again overall as a total Movie....I think IW is slightly better....
IW was Thanos movie...and IMO the story told, His Motivations, His Dept and Ultimately his Completion and WIN is unlike anything in movie history...
again the ONLY thing I can think to compare IW and EG to is the Lord Of The Ring Trilogy....
Yet to my absolute Amazement....Not ONLY do IW and EG work Perfectly as 1 Giant story across 2 films....But The Both work as 2 Individual Films(especially IW)
The LOTR trilogy are also 3 great Individual films, But theres no getting around They are all 1 part of a story...
Infinity War Truly its own complete Movie.
Its almost Beyond comprehension what Marvel Studios and The Russos accomplished with these 2 Avengers Movies...
IMO Together they are easily The Great Comic Book movie ever put on film....but also as Individual films they are also 2 of the greatest CBM movies ever
I've Been trying to figure out where to Rank Endgame in My top 5 MCU films
and I truly cant figure it out
I think The Winter Soldier,Civil War and Infinity War may even fact be Overall Better Movies...
but The Last Hour of Endgame Is IMO BY far the greatest the genre as ever produced.
I think My ranking are going to be-
1. The Avengers
2. The Winter Soldier
3. Infinity War
4. Endgame
5. Civil War
But I also have No doubt, I Will watch and enjoy Infinity War and Endgame Much More over the next 10 years...
I gotta say it’s easily Endgame for me, and I loved IW. I think from a filmmaking and narrative standpoint, Endgame is simply in a league of its own. Then again, that’s how I felt about every MCU film directed by the Russos (in my eyes their films transcended the CBM genre, yet at the same time they were the quintessential CBM’s), but this is more true now than ever with Endgame. It’s a true cinematic achievement.
Sure, Infinity War is more action-driven. And that’s because it was supposed to be a more exciting movie, whereas Endgame’s entire first act is appropriately focused on character building. It’s all about the characters and everything they have to say (pure emotion). The three hour mark exists for a reason. I personally was really invested in those quiet and unexciting moments.
And not for nothing, but that final battle, for me, outshines anything in IW. It’s comic book film perfection. I also thought Endgame had superior cinematography, direction, and pacing. In any event, both films are amazing and they absolutely work as one giant film.
And not for nothing, but that final battle, for me, outshines anything in IW
^^^
complete agree with this...
but yet I still cant get over the feeling, IW JUST PURELY as a movie is slightly better...
I think it comes down to perspective...While I think both movies have equal Depth, character building, Motives and arks....
for me personally theres something about IW being Thanos Movie that makes me feel its slightly better....He WINS...They made an Avengers movie Where They Avengers LOSE!!!!!....Where A Villain Is Fully Realized, Where His Motives and Actions are so well thought out and articulated....I just cant think of anything like it....
and while NOTHING it IW made me feel or react lie the last Hour Of Endgame... I just cant get past the conclusion I think IW is better...
but Its so close, I dont even think I could separate them By a half point.....I always rate movies by half points...10's, 9.5's or 9's
With these 2 films...I think I would Rate IW as a 9.5 and Endgame a 9.4....
and easily rate them together as a 10....
also what most astonishing...Impossibly Endgame made me LOVE and Appreciate Infinity War even more....and I'm sure the next time I watch Infinity War its gonna make me Love Endgame even more....
these 2 films are astonishing....
they really are something you couldnt even have dreamed....
Can’t argue with that. What they did with Thanos in IW far succeeded anyone’s expectations. It was spectacular.
That said, I keep seeing people mention that Infinity War was more enjoyable. Well, that was the point. Unlike Infinity War, Endgame didn’t start out with a bang - and the reason for that is it wasn’t supposed to. The first act HAD to focus on the characters more than anything else. It didn’t need to rush things. While this obviously didn’t please SOME fans (most whom I assume have little to no patience for character studies), it’s no mystery why even a few critics who aren’t fond of CBM’s responded well to Endgame being more character-driven.
In any case, props to the Russos and IW & Endgame’s screenwriters.
It's weird, after my first viewing I was a bit disappointed, I thought it was inferior to Infinity War. But after each rewatch I like it more. Especially the third act, but also the first act, which a lot of people are saying is slow but I would have liked more of. The second act, the part with the time travel was the weakest, which is funny because I thought I would enjoy that part the most.
Infinity War definitely had better action sequences, but the action in Endgame was much more epic.
I always laugh at the criticism of not enough action, or the other one had more action. It's a shame people nowadays just want constant big pretty CGI battles instead of some amazing dramatic scenes and character development and emotion.
