Boxofficemojo.com predicting A UNEARTHLY 300 Million OW

Its official....Mojo is predicting a 300 Million OW...

I would like to say I disagree(because I dont actually think it will get to 300 M)....But I cant blame them for their Prediction...

You cant argue with anything between 260 and 300 Million....The data/tracking/presales and awareness is unprecedented, Theres nothing to compare it to....

All we now for sure is Endgame is tracking Above IW and The Force Awakens which were the 2 previous Movies with the highest tracking....

since Endgame is the ONLY movie ever to put up these numbers...we just dont know what it means other than it could fall anywhere between 260 to 300 M...

Since Mojo is predicting the absolute High end with 300 M....I got to assume The data they are looking is unlike anything they've ever seen, and the data is MUCH HIGHER than IW and TFA...

I cant believe I just saw a movie actually be predicted to make 300 M on OW....Literally incredible

I'm going with 283 Million...

I've read quite a few articles on what its going to take for Endgame to hit 300 M....While its Mathematically Possible....It all comes down to the run time...

The 3 hour run time is going to be a hurdle...

If Endgame was 2 hours and 35 or under....the articles makes it seem like Endgame would be very likely to hit 300 M

So I actually believe Endgame has the Tracking and Ultimately the audience to get a 300 Million Opening, I just think The 3 Hour run is going to cause it to come up slightly short.

The 3 hour run time Is just gonna leave to many Showing off the table...

I’m not sure that this is possible. Or it’s less than 50% likely. Yes, there are a record number of screens that this is available, but let’s not forget that the length of the film is hindering it some. There are a lesser number of showings per screen due to the length. So all of the extra showings at 1am, 2:30am etc are only serving to bring the daily number of screening per theater back up to the average. I still think they it will beat Infinity War, but I am expecting somewhere around $260-275 million opening weekend (which is still impressive).

So yea I guess we agree that this may fall short.

reply

To compensate for the long run time AMC is running Avengers:Endgame in a continuous 72 Hour showing on some existing screens. Meaning three days straight. https://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-avengers-endgame-amc-theatres-20190422-story.html

I read that 325m was mathematically possible. But a lot of screenings have been added since then.

Personally I'm going to stick my neck out and go for 320-340m domestically. 1.1b worldwide.

Predictions for Friday total are 130-140m. That will put it 25-35m ahead of Infinity war by Friday. Unless it's heavily frontloaded, then 300m+ is certain. My instincts tell me it won't be.

reply

Deadline now has Friday estimates at 140-150m and weekend at 315-330m.

$300 million is looking more and more likely

Wow.

But just remember, even if it were to come up short, you know there’s going to be those (the trolls) that will hilariously call the film a failure. The foolery XD

reply

Personally, if it doesn't beat the total box office of BvS in its opening weekend, I will consider it a failure.

reply

Interesting: BvS has a domestic total of ~$330 Million and what if Avengers:Endgame made more than that on the OW domestically as well as exceeded the international gross for BvS's entire run?

reply

It will beat the worldwide gross by some hundreds of millions.Beating the domestic total will take some doing, but it's on the cards.

I remember when BvS making a Wordlwide opening of 420m was big news. Endgame will pass that by Friday. lol.

reply

It might beat BvS by $2 Billion worldwide. Could you even have imagined saying that 4 years ago? At one point BvS and Justice League were viewed as potential $2 Billion dollar movies amongst certain rabid fans.

How times and fortunes have changed.

reply

It's actually only just over 3 years since BvS came out. Justice League opened 280m Worldwide. Endgame had 365 by Thursday. That does put a smile on my face.

reply

1 year prior to release was when the conversation of Box office expectation for those two films began to be discussed and it was of course compared to Marvel's Avengers.

^^^

Endgame is on track for a 1 to 1.1 Billion + GLOBAL debut....

I'm absolutely stunned....300 Million + US Opening seemed to be certain, now the question is how far over can it get....

anything between 310 to 345 seems to be possible

Avatar is Officially IN PLAY for Endgame!

this is truly Unbelievable

You're right and you have been following the box office cues and clues from the beginning and yet the final numbers will be surprisingly staggering. No one could forecast this and or predict this without being called, I don't know, crazy?

Every TV station is discussing this locally as well as on all of the financial cable stations. This is just that much of a financial event as anything else.

On the planning side Disney/Marvel has invested heavily to make sure that this is a success and it is paying off in more ways than dollars. Disney/Marvel is hardening their brand and trying to not only build but hold on to it's audience for a Post-Avengers-Original-Six world.

Lol I cant believe Queen was trying to get on that Kick of saying "Presales and Pre tracking Is Overblown, everyone is Hyperventilating....expectations are too high based on the overblown presales"...

He either had no clue what The Presales Meant....Or He understood The Presales were in fact Unprecedented and that KILLED HIM so he was trying to make excuses....

lol I loved when he tried to claim The Presales meant nothing when EG broke the single day record in 1 Hour....

lol I loved when he tried to claim presales meant nothing when it was reported EG out sold IW by 7 times....lol He actually tried to say "Online ticket-buying is becoming the accepted norm today"

lol IW and EG were ONLY 1 year apart and he actually tried to make it seem like there had been some HUGE technological advice in that time and would render the Presales incorrect... lol he tried shamelessly to down play EG Opening 7X higher than IW as "Oh means nothing, online ticketing buying is more common today"

even Last Night, he prematurely reported EG was having a 43 M in MN previews, and He still was on the Kick "everyone over over reacted over the presales, No way EG will live up to the expectations"

lol again He truly either had no clue what the presales Meant and simply made these statement out of Pure stupidity...

Or he fully recognized The Unprecedented nature of the Presales....and due to his hatred for Disney, couldnt accept it and started coming up with Absurd and delusional excuses to try and discredit the Presales...

either way, Jesus He took a Beating!...
