Busted Gauntlet

I've been pondering the final moments of the film, specifically post-snap, and the wrecked-looking gauntlet. Conventional wisdom to this point has been that the breadth and scope of Thanos' act unleashed a force from the Infinity Gems, err Stones, that even the gauntlet could not contain. What if it's revealed in Endgame that we saw more than we realize, and that either Antman or Vision, or some other force, was at work inside the gauntlet or a stone that corrupted the snap, and destroyed the gauntlet? I've postulated previously that the dusted beings were in fact shuttled into a different dimension, or into the Soul Stone, but how clever would it be if they showed us Thanos losing at the end of Infinity War, and we all thought he'd won?

That's interesting, very interesting. If we are all not mistaken the Mind Stone housed in Vision's head was sentient. Much like the space stone seemed to have some type of will that decided the Red Skull was unworthy and much like the Soul Stone required a grand bargain. When combined there seems to be something about the six stones working together that amplifies their individual power(s) and maybe even their collected consciousness or will independently of the wearer of the gauntlet. I mean doesn't the gauntlet make all manner of decisions of what constitutes life through out present existence?

The stones know what Thanos doesn't know and Thanos doesn't know what he doesn't know even though he feels he is cursed with knowledge. If he did know everything he wouldn't have allowed the remaining Avengers or any powerful entity within the known and unknown universes to remain.

Yes, I agree all the souls/bodies must exist somewhere or have been transformed into something else. That's my own little "Head Canon" based on MCU pseudo science.

My theory has always been that Strange did something to the Time Stone before giving it to Thanos. Remember his statement to Ebony Maw about how it's impossible to remove a dead man's spell? Strange knew he was gonna get dusted so when he offered up the Stone, he mucked around with it somehow with there being no way to reverse it.

Ah, but if Strange and the others aren't really dead but are in some sort of stone-space, does the "dead man's spell" thing hold true???

If he is trapped in the Soul Stone, it still holds. Especially if the Soul world in the movies reflect the Soul World in the comics where people lose their memories and their physical forms are gone. It is effectively a pocket-Heaven. For all intents and purposes, people in the Soul World are dead but they have a better chance of escaping.

If that's the case, that might be a good place to send Iron Man, or whoever dies, in the film as a sort of comic book "just in case." Maybe 5 years from now they'll want Tony Stark for something and they can have someone pluck him from the Soul Dimension.

See Otter, you're using words just to screw with everybody's head. Didn't Wong explain to Dr. Strange (or was it Baron Mordo) that using the time stone (Eye of Agamotto) for breaking the laws of nature had unforetold consequences?

Thanos may have screwed up a LOT of things that can't be fixed.

Or he has opened the door to a New MCU??!!! YEAH!!!!

Which is why I like the floating theories about a time travel solution to the whole mishegas.

It's necessary for the MCU world to go back to the world we know and understand, so that they don't have to ask us to watch stories set in a world that's been traumatized and reshuffled, and IMHO the only way they can plausibly do that is to make it so the Snapture never happened.

the Stones glow when they are activate. so dr. Strange activate the Time Stone before giving it to Thanos. I think he cursed it.

We have legitimate reason to believe any of four of the Infinity Stones may have been compromised.

Time Stone-- Dr. Strange could easily have cast some sort of spell on it, or activated in some way as to do something at some preset time.

Soul Stone-- Gamora may be inside, or otherwise linked to it, manipulating it, as could be the Red Skull. Thanos took it at face value that he had to make that sacrifice to obtain the stone, but it could all have been a ruse by the Skull.

Mind Stone-- Very likely that some or all of Vision's psyche was transferred into the stone when Thanos took it.

Space Stone-- Loki had time to cast an enchantment on the stone before presenting it to Thanos.

Really, only the Power and Reality Stones seem unlikely to have been in any way tampered with.

Keep in mind, both the Soul Stone and Space Stone are alive and have consciousness. The Mind Gem is also hinted at having sentience as well in Age of Ultron. There could be something there.

I did not realize they were considered to be alive/sentient. Where was this revealed?

The Tesseract was given a lot if human attributes in the first Captain America and Avengers movies such as describing it as “awake” and “calling out”. Makes sense as it was based on the Cosmic Cubes from the comics and they eventually turn into cosmic beings. Even in Infinity War, Skull mentioned the Tesseract “has a certain wisdom”. Meanwhile, the Soul Stone asks for a sacrifice and if it deems you unworthy, it curses you which implies sentience.

As for the Mind Stone, Bruce and Tony found the AI in Loki’s scepter. This ended up being Ultron but I always kinda wondered if it had a mind of its own or if it was something Thanos set up.

Interesting theory. I never took it as far as the stones having awareness but it's certainly possible. Re: Ultron, do I remember correctly that the code that became Ultron was something that Wolfgang von Strucker had been working on and Tony and Bruce got ahold of it when the liberated Loki's scepter from his castle?

It was never explained where it came from. Strucker was using it to give people superpowers, although only Wanda and Pietro survived.

I missed that detail. I thought it was some sort of work in progress of his that they nipped in the bud.
