Thor's and Star Lord's motivations explained *spoilers*

Thanos, Thor and Star Lord are all engaging in a hero's journey, according to Joe Russo. Star Lord and Thor stumble along the way by making human decisions. Star Lord's bad decision was punching Thanos on Titan, and Thor's bad decision was piercing Thanos' chest so he could gloat to Thanos's face.

While they are big errors in judgment, I like the idea that it's something the characters will kick themselves for in the future. Instead of it being lazy writing to give Thanos a way to victory, it does seem to be more about characters recognizing their flaws.

It was also confirmed that the leading fan theories were correct that the orange world is indeed the soul world, and Gamora's spirit is technically trapped inside the soul stone.
