She seems sort of stiff in moments and other times her humour doesn't typically land, but I don't think that's any fault of hers. She's generally a good actress so I think the problem here is honestly the writing. I thought she was supposed to be stoic like Captain America, but instead she seems like Steve Rogers pretending to be Tony Stark which I feel would place the blame on the writing, not the performance.

shareShe eased into the role the more the film progressed, but I must admit that for the first half an hour or so she did come across as rather stiff and affected, particularly when she was required to deliver a joke or humorous gesture. I also think that she's arguably a better dramatic actor than she is a star (she's absolutely superb in Room, for which she deserved her Academy Award, where she was playing a deeply traumatised character, but she still hasn't quite developed the charisma of Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans). Still, she was much better in the later scenes where she reunites with Maria and Monica Rambeau and she had decent chemistry throughout with Samuel L. Jackson. I'm sure she'll get better the more we're used to her in the part.
shareWhen it comes to showing heart while being 'cold and stoic' Emily Blunt was perfect in 'Edge of Tomorrow', where she was utterly burnt out after repeating time for years yet we saw inside her soul from the git go. Emily was never flat or wooden for a single minute in the entire movie. I think her superior acting range would have made a huge improvement over Larson.
I wonder, in the Scenes where she got to be an asshole towards a white male, she enjoyed the moment so much she forgot to act. After seeing her in public this girl has some issues. Or is Hollywood so infected with creeps she doesn't get to spend time with ordinary decent people?

The politics surrounding Larson don't really bug me which probably helps me in realizing she did a fine job. Though on your point of Emily Blunt, I would've preferred her as well. I'm hoping Marvel will use her for a role in the future.
