Just reading the storyline............my first thought was V knockoff. I hope not. C'mon ACC, give us something, much much better.

shareIts based on a Clarke novel from 1954. SO - the source material and its concepts significantly predate "V" by decades. "V" could be regarded as a bad "Childhood's End" knock off.
Having said that - we'll have to see if SiFi can do/ has done a worthy adaptation of what most critics regard as Arthur Clarke's best sf novel.

Aside from aliens arriving in giant ships, there is no similarity.
Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.
IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK...
its like when independence day came out i said oh its V but then the aliens were more aggressive and tore *beep* up and then they looked like little evil et's or xfiles aliens,or close encounters aliens if you will.funny how karellen looks like robert englund in devil makeup and he was also in V lol childhoods end on elm street :)
spectre can
suck it.
and WHY do the Mouthbreathing studio execs think we need an ID4:2?
shareWell, in V, the Visitors did arrive with the premise of helping mankind. So there is that similarity.
Of course, the Visitors really wanted our planets resources (I don't recall if they actually wanted to use man for food... I only remember them liking to eat mice)
Brains are good, especially when sauteed with carmelized onions.

Don't forget; the Visitors in V ate live birds
