I think the quality of this Syfy TV movie ...

... made up for a LOT of their horrible TV movies. Made me think of "Battlestar Galactica" (2nd incarnation). Granted, it did move awfully slow and I sure was glad I DVR'd it so could zap thru the many ads, but it was very pretty to look at. Not surprised it's nominated for a Critics' Choice award; hope it wins that.

It definitely had great production values, too bad the script didn't come close to living up to the book.

Sadly I'm not much of a reader these days, but maybe I should give that book a try. (I ordered one of Clarke's other books and it still sits unopened, unfortunately.)

You should give it a try, as it is just a very well written work. Especially the middle and last part. I think he was at the height of inspiration in 1958.

glad i missed it on broadcast-i would have gone nuts-the meaning of the film would have been diluted

I watched all 3 in a row ON DEMAND-maybe 15 mins of commercials total (forced)
