Karellen gave to Ricky in the first ep? It's been a while since I've watched the mini-series, and I've never read the book.
I do want to rewatch it soon though; that's how I was reminded of the vial.

I'm guessing it was a test, because as soon as he opened it, that baby was cured of that red rash
I'm also assuming it triggered worldwide healing of conditions, hard to say.
