Having just heard her


Not sure if Stephen Frears Is the best choice to direct this which needs a sense of humor which I don't believe Frears has. Hope I'm wrong.

He did direct Cheri and High Fidelity. I've not seen them, both both of those should have required a sense of humor as well.

Philomena also was appropriately humorous when it was supposed to be.

Yes. After seeing Philomena, I think the tone he struck with that -- humorous, without lampooning the character -- could be perfect for this. The old girl (Jenkins) has been jeered at enough -- a bit of endearing humour wouldn't go astray.

Me, I'm laughing at the millennials, who seem to think FFJ is a new discovery -- like no-one was aware of anything before they were born. 



You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

He might be up to the task (I agree, some gentler humor could be the way to go with FFJ). But I think this could have been a Terry Gilliam project.
