Anyone else think this movie looks stupid?

The trailers are so annoying. Nothing funny or interesting about it. Looks like the typical door-hits-someone-in-the-face type of dumb humor.

I have seen this movie and it is great.

Your post is what is stupid. Nobody is forcing you to watch the trailer/s, so stop complaining.

You obviously have no intention of seeing this movie, but in the highly unlikely event that you do, then you can come on here and give an informed and valid opinion.

My post is stating an opinion based off of my impression after seeing the trailer. And then asking if anyone felt the same way about it. Get over yourself.

reply

Having seen the trailer, it looks like good old fashioned silly fun, nothing more. Family friendly too.

I thought it looked totally stupid, but then I got to go to a sneak preview tonight. I got some really good laughs out of it. I can totally see Meryl Streep getting a Golden Globe nod for comedy or musical for this role.

reply

What it may look like is nothing like it actually is.

I suggest seeing it.

reply

This is not a raucous comedy so much as it is a gentle, witty drama about a person pursuing their dreams with great handicaps and the loving people who want to help them realize those dreams. There are some screwball elements that the trailer uses to pitch the film.

It is absolutely not a stupid movie despite what you gleaned from the trailers.

It's true...there are no car chases, no transformers, no boom booms, no Marvel comic characters.

But it's good anyway. Great script, great acting, a true story...funny and touching. It's an art form called movie making.

If it's not your kind of movie, why refuse to see it, then go on a forum for the movie and be a curmudgeon? What's the point of that? You bored?

reply

I thought it looked good but, I left after 15 minutes: it tried too hard to be endearing with Meryl bumbling her way through every scene. It was unbearable for me.
