Superb! Delightful! Poignant!

Meryl Streep turns in one of her signature performances in this movie. She is delightful and charming. Hugh Grant is underrated as an actor, I think. He shows his talent in this movie, as he plays an aging British former actor in a vague relationship with Jenkins.

Was he in it for the money? Did Jenkins really not realize how badly she sang? Is it that money buys anything? Or is it a little bit of that, coupled with those in Jenkins' circle wanting to keep up a happy face and for Jenkins to continue to be happy?

This is not a loud or blockbuster movie. But for anyone who likes an interesting story, great screenwriting, and first rate acting, this is worth the money. I really enjoyed this. Streep continues to amaze me. Bravo to Grant for showing his age or letting himself be shown to appear as an older man (not sure which it is). Bravo to Streep for not having a face lift (yet). And bravo to the Big Bang Theory actor for holding his own. He nailed it and turned in a stellar performance.

Very nice review!

I agree. It really did touch upon the subjects of love, friendship, and the white lies contained without being too heavy handed. It was far more poignant than I expected.

White lies ... and some black ones too.

Reminded me of Big Fish, Ed Wood and some of Altman's vanity cast without murder.

Lies make life, thuth kills. LOL.
