Simon Helberg damn near steals the movie from Streep

If Helberg hadn't been up against an actor of the extraordinary ability of Streep, he'd have walked off with the entire film. He gives a brilliant comic performance. I assume he recreated someone he knew who was like his concept of Cosme to perform that character so impeccably and with such detail. His comic imagination and timing are exquisite. His Cosme's reactions to first hearing FFJ sing - from shock to "doesn't anyone else hear what I'm hearing?" to hilarity is classic, priceless.

The NY Times singled him out as the find of the movie. I hope he continues to get the recognition he deserves for his performance

Absolutely loved him. As a seldom viewer of The Big Bang Theory, didn't even realize this was the same actor from that show. He was great in Florence Foster Jenkins.

He was funny but devoting so much time into an underdeveloped character made him monotonous.

We know everything about Cosme we need to know: he's talented, very knowledgeable in his field, realistic about FFJ's vocal inability, lives very modestly, is sensibly concerned about his reputation, has a good heart...and is, shall we say, fey. His character is as well developed as it should be, given his place in the plot. To take the time to bring out more aspects of Cosme would be to throw the story off-balance.

Yes! He clearly stood out to me. I think everyone gave great performances but he was outstanding.
I hope he is Oscar nominated for best supporting actor.
And I hope to see him in more movies.

He was absolutely wonderful! Honestly he reminded me of a young Gene Wilder, reminiscent of his timidity in The Producers.
I hope he wins or is at least nominated for something! Absolutely brilliant!
