Singers/Musical artists worse than Florence?

I'm not saying Florence is good and all but since that was the 40s and this is the present, I've always felt they're worse artists/singers. Plus, she has passion unlike some of the worst I've heard. I'm just going to list my bottom 5.

And I have a feeling people are going to be hipsters and list Justin Bieber or One Direction, but I find them more bland than bad and some of theirs songs are catchy.

One more to add to the list: Yoko Ono. I'm surprised nobody hasn't mentioned her name yet

Thanks for reminding that it was Mrs Miller that I was thinking of. John Peel used to have such a varied playlist.

If we were looking for Florence's male counterpart, I'd say the most similar character is Stefan Zucker, this opera expert and amateur singer. He's responsible for the booklets of the Bel Canto Society DVD releases- usually some terrible 30's or 40's musical films that were meant as vehicles for the singing abilities of some opera greats of the time, such as Johann Schmidt or Richard Tauber. It's very funny that Zucker always nitpicks about the singing of Schmidt and his likes, finding flaws in their technique, when he himself doesn't seem to have foggiest notion of what music is about if you go by his performances. I know some opera buffs who used to meet and laugh at his recordings along with FFJ's. I think I'd rather see a comedy about Zucker rathen than Florence: it would be way more satisfying to laugh at him given his arrogance.

That is an excellent story. Another male Florence could be the weird pop singer Tiny Tim who I think was contemporaneous with Mrs Miller.

Except Tiny Tim really could sing on pitch and had an incredible range. Most people only know him for the freakish falsetto they made him do over and over because he could, but he had a great baritone voice he could call on when he felt like it. I heard him do "St. Louis Blues" in this voice live once and the crowd was stunned.

Lots of live performances of pop singers (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift etc.) most definitely are as bad or worse as FFJ. I think opera especially bad opera has a certain quality with much more comedic potential than just bad pop singing though.

Nope, nope, and I've had the displeasure of hearing Katy Perry sing live! Perry was just out of tune by a note or two and sounded a bit hoarse, but Jenkins could be out of tune by as much as an octave and wander into new keys and speed up and slow down and had the luscious vocal tone of an upset hen.

I've treasured my FFJ CD for 20 years now, because she is THE worst singer I've ever heard in my life! And that includes amateurs, professionals, and even tone-deaf heavy-smoking relatives trying to sing the national anthem.

A girl group so bad they are uniquely brilliant. Frank Zappa amongst many others was a big fan.
