Brilliant performances, and Nina Arianda's is a pot o' gold
I've only been here in the year 2016 for a couple of months. I was driving along in my DeSoto one stormy night listening to The Aldrich Family when suddenly, blooey! everything -- well, I guess you're 'way ahead of me.
Since then I've been keeping body and soul together by working in a movie house, and am I glad they're showing Florence Foster Jenkins now. While the lights are down, it's like being back where I belong. Gosh, these are real people! Real movie people, anyway. At first I thought the piano player was Sig Arno. I also spotted a guy who reminded me of Leonid Kinskey. It could've been his brother (not "could of," you 21st-century dopes!). These people are different but still socko.
And gee, but that brassy, lowbrow blonde (nothing personal) is one swell dame. She may be a tough cookie and a gold digger, but her heart's in the right place. This Agnes Stark could be the girl next door, depending on where you live. Everything about her -- even her voice quality -- rings so true I could swear she was somebody from the 40s. Not a spoof, but the real thing. Maybe she got caught in the same kind of thunderstorm.
Do I want to see more movies like this? And how! Oh, but I'll sit still for action and special effects, huh? Sez you.
