I'm sorry, how did Simon Helberg not get a Best Supporting Actor nom?
He was fantastic in this. I often forgot this was the same abrasive idiot from The Big Bang Theory. It earned him so much more respect in my eyes because it was a different kind of character. Shy, charming, funny, caring...for a fairly quiet character, Helberg really made him complex. What's all the more impressive is how he managed to be completely at ease and natural on screen with old power houses Meryl Strep and Hugh Grant. I'm incredibly disappointed, as an Oscar nomination would garner him more attention so he can do different stuff once he's done sucking the teat of Chuck Lorre's awful show.
Hugh Grant got the shaft too, but I'm more upset with Helberg. And frankly surprised at how little buzz this got at the awards at all. Usually these well acted, beautifully designed period pieces get eaten up by the voters.
