OT: How Old

Do you wanna live to be? I wanna live to be super old like 93-95.

reply

When I was really young I wanted to live forever, but as I grow older I realize that one by one, the things I care about disappear. Whether it's little things like a favorite TV show or my favorite place to buy a taco, or devastating losses like someone's death, little by little we lose the things we know and love. New things appear, but that doesn't mean we forget what's been lost. I suppose now I still want to live a long, long life, at least as long as I am in decent health, but the idea of living forever has long since been cast by the wayside.

Who else would run the jerk store

Until my health deteriorates to the point that death is preferable to the pain of continued existence.

You say that now but as you get older you won't anymore..

really? I've actually changed my mind and want to live to be 110! I totally get what the 1st guy was saying about losing things we love but I think it goes both ways that you always have a lot to be upset about and a lot to be happy about.

Not sure how old you are but maybe go spend an afternoon in a nursing home with people in their 90's and than come back here and tell us how great it will be. If the 3-5% of people who make it into their 90's , most do not have a very good or active life....just saying man....

I am 28

You start to feel a bit different into your mid to late 30's. By your 40's the long road ahead no longer seems long and life isn't as exciting anymore. Plus if you dont eat absolutely healthy by your 40's you are seriously shortening your life....

You gotta at least admit that it’s good that I want to live to be very old. And I don’t think it’s that surprising that a movie lover would want to live to such an old age lol.

My grannies both lived to their 90's, mom's mom to 98, as well as her brother, and dad's mom to 95, but they suffered for the last 5-10 years, with forms of dementia.

Granddads died at 38, mom's, and 50, dad's. I'm unfortunately male and I had my first heart attack last week. I can barely walk now. So I've lowered my hopes from a 100 to one day at a time.
