The very talented Colin Morgan(Leo) always takes his roles very seriously, actually "creating" the person he's playing -his facial expressions, gait, voice, the way he laughs/cries etc. Leo is very tensed ALL the time hence that tilt you've noticed. He's on a mission(an impossible one!) - saving the conscious synths from the rest of humanity, he's on alert, he doesn't have a home or a job or any semblance of normal life or any hope of ever getting one (he realized that in season 1 when he was crying in Hawkins family's bathroom). So, to put it mildly, he has ENOUGH drama in his life to be dramatic. Have you watched Colin in The Fall? The Living and he Dead? Merlin? Parked? He could be very VERY subtle when needed...
