^Enjoy. Not a clue how long this will stay up, so watch when/if you can. And of course, it should go without saying, MASSIVE SPOILERS are in this video.
OMFG! I'm not into James Maslow, but I'm really digging his acting just in those 11 minutes! I'll have to wait until I watch the whole movie of course to really judge his acting in this overall, but so far so good, I'm really liking what I'm seeing from him.
YES! I have seen the whole thing and James is definitely the star of the movie. He excels even with some very campy and rather lackluster writing. I do believe people will finally see him as more than just an ex-boy band guy who was in a show for kids on NICK. LOL. Hopefully he can land something on prime time tv for the fall because he really excelled at this role.
I've never read the books. Only heard about these movies cause of actor Sammi Hanratty who is in this instalment. Is the book graphic like Fifty Shades or whatnot?
oh the books in the 'Dollanganger' series are much more twisted, nasty, horrifying and disturbing than the 'Fifty Shades' books...they make the 'Fifty Shades' books seem like just your average corny romance story in comparison. Alot of people think that 'Fifty Shades of Grey' book is intense and disturbing, but it's NOTHING compared to these 'Dollanganger' series.
quite, it's also implied that they end up together at the end of the book. But their incest is hardly the worst of it all, there's alot more much more disturbing and twisted storylines in the books.
I don't know, I haven't seen the movie yet because I live outside the US, so I have to wait for someone to upload the movie online. However judging from the preview videos I have seen, it seems they still delved into that sexual tension & incest between Bart & Cindy in the movie, though just how deep they portrayed their relationship in the movie remains to be seen...at least for the rest of us who have yet to watch it.
Well the movie doesn't air until the weekend in the US so no one has seen it yet unless someone from the studio leaked it online. Guess I'm just curious cause the character of Cindy is played by Sammi Hanratty who I'm becoming quite a fan of.
true, although it seems there's still some people who have already seen the movie from a pre-screening or private screening or something like that. There's someone on this board who claims to have already watched the whole movie. For people who live outside the US, we'll have to wait even longer to watch the movie...I'm still waiting for someone to upload ITBT online.
In the book, the incest with Bart and Cindy is very much left up to interpretation. I don't remember any overt scenes. It's just back and forth cattiness with him sexually humiliating her on multiple occasions and acting like a cross between an overprotective, bible-thumping big brother and a jealous lover. He admits at one point that her flaunting of her body in front of him is getting to him but it's never stated, or even understood to be the case, that he truly, deep down wants to be with her. Only that he's a man drawn to the type of woman he is most repulsed by. In the end of the book, they become more like loving siblings but nothing more than that happens between them. That's why I was surprised to see her as a romantic interest in the movie, and that the lust between them was actually the main plot according to the cable guide. But surprised in a good way. So much was implied in the books that was, unfortunately, never explored. The movies seem to be drawing some of that to the forefront, hitting at the heart of the tensions instead of dancing around them.
I'm glad that they went there. There was so much going on in the book. VC didn't want to give us a happy ending. I get it and respect that. But I'm glad the script went there. In the movie, Bart just wanted to be loved!
I watched it again. THANK YOU! It's campy, but I loved it! I like the liberties that they took. People can't expect it to be exactly like the book. Bart and Cindy scenes were nice...
James is actually a good actor. You have actually have to be a strong actor pull off camp well. He did great in the scenes that I've seen so far. I hope this film helps him get on a Primetime show or something. He looks amazing too! Lord have mercy!!
