Like I said in the topic above yours, he clearly referenced Dial up Internet which was a service that provided Internet access through the the means of your telephone line. It was invented in the eighties but commercialised in the nineties.. Cindy also has a Walkman. I haven't read the books but It's not hard to calculate the years.

Well, Cathy was 15 in 1961 when they left the attic and Bart was born when she was in her mid 20s. So if he's 25 in this, then it has to be about 1996 ish.
