It occured to me today...

That with other great 'odd' shows like Lost and The Leftovers etc., I have wanted to know how they ended.

With Twin Peaks I find myself wanting to know how it continues.

I don't want it to end :(

I find myself not wanting everything about the Lodges explained

reply

no, I never want everything explained. Life's mysteries should never be explained.

reply

exactly. It takes the whole beauty of it away.

👍

I didn't say explained. I said continued. I just don't think one season extra was enough.

reply

I understood what you said :)

reply

Ah ok. It's just two of you said 'explained' so I thought I would clear it up.

It's cool my friend. I understand you thought I was poking at you for some reason; but it is not the case at all. I took your "i find myself" and just added my own thoughts related to TP series.

I really don't need the Lodge logic to be explained. And I don't really think I want to. I was somewhat bothered with the need to explain the Bob and Laura spiritual beginnings in Episode 8. I am quite alright with them being just 2 spirits of different nature. The visuals were great and all, but I see no real point in constructing a genesis for Bob or Laura; at all.

If the point of it was to show that there is a sort of silent balance going on in the Lodges, we already got that when the Lodges were explained by both Hawke and Briggs [and Earle] + all the imagery that happens in the Waiting Room and the Room above the Convenience Store; so - IMHO - watching the "Mother of all Evils" and the "Fireman" creating their own version of a spirit felt forced and unnecessary.

No, I didn't think you were poking at me, just thought you misunderstood what I meant.

Given what Lynch & Frost have created in Season 3, I think there is great scope for expansion of many storylines still. Some things will get wrapped up by the end of this season but I hope enough gets left over or one hell of a cliffhanger happens to enable a season 4.

I feel the same. They explained so much about the TP world that at this rate they could actually wrap everything up too neatly and leave nothing to the imagination. It's funny for me to say this because my biggest pet peeve with 90s TV shows was X-Files style spaghetti plotting where there were no answers to anything. Here, I just want more mystery, more characters and subplots, and not as many infodumps.
