In Praise of the Green Glove.

The whole green glove thing was the most unexpected (i.e. by me) thing to happen in The New Twin Peaks. It was exquisitely random. There is always some random and unpredictable things -- the llama of the past for example, or run of the mill weirdness like the recent window washer -- but somehow this green glove bit seemed even more unlikely. I think part of it is that it adds such an obvious (too obvious for Lynch) foreshadowing of some heroism... it was like a comic super hero backstory.

The over the top Cockney-ness of the character, at the same time, made it wacky as Wally Brando. This includes the backslang about "bees" and "Gregory," etc., and the way Jimmy/James just rolled with it like he understood it.

Now the question is whether Green Glove guy will actually play a role, e.g. smash in the face of Bad Coop the Face Smasher, or if it will be a red herring.

It's probably a red herring to a much smaller action. Although I do feel inclined him being the one who will put DoppelCoop asleep so he can be dragged to the Lodge. But probably has something to do with the Furnace.

I know people want to see a showdown between Dougie/Coop and DoppelCoop but I highly doubt it will happen.

The way I see it, Coop will return to his former self only after DoppelCoop is sent to the Lodge. He will quite probably be Dougie when he sits at the table back at home and as he is sipping his coffee he will become Coop and while spitting the coffee out say "Hi" like he did in one of the episodes. [I thought that that was the episode that would make him come to his senses at the time. It's one of the very few occasions he doesn't repeat anything he is told].

I love the color that Lynch chose too.

Emerald Green. It's a pretty color. My favorite is Bordeaux. My home office has the walls painted bordeaux. Goes damn well with candle light at night. Very soothing.

It's a superhero color. Like Green Lantern and Green Arrow.
Now there is The Green Glove!

Some of you may remember the actor from youtube, as he has a channel where he does may voice impressions of English accents.

David Lynch saw one of his videos and was so impressed that he contacted him to ask if he wanted to work on a project for him....

Thanks!

I think I saw round one of youtube viral accents, by "Amy Walker," and I never wanted to click on an accents video again after that. Which is not to say this dude isn't good, rather it might explain why I never caught his videos. His knack for absurdity makes him much more endearing than dowdy "Amy Walker" from Seattle.

No idea who she is.

Just a YT hack who made a "many accents" video in the earlier days of YouTube.

I loved that guy too! The window washer was pretty funny but it was just background weirdness, while The Green Glove definitely has a role to play in the story. If the Giant sent him there, he has a job to do. he seemed like an anachronism in some ways like he was from 1950s London, not 2017 London, but so much of Lynch had that slightly old-timey vibe to it.
His cockney slang seemed to get thicker and thicker as he told the story. James was just like, cool story bro! and then goes to check on the ominous machines. I was really appreciating the sound design of this episode, well I always do but this one and episode 8 stood out to me.
This superhero character was surprising but this is the Twin Peaks I signed up for. I hope it's not a red herring. the Giant should not be sending red herrings!
