Sonny Jim is weird
He seems like a nice kid, but is he really. I mean, why would Lynch and Frost name him after a mass murderer? Is there something deeply wrong with him?

shareWho's the mass murderer, the jonestown guy?
There is definitely something off with the boy.
The boy is a good natured spirit. He is indirectly on the scope of the White Lodge by proxy of Cooper.
Through out the series his actions are of assistance to Coop/Dougie. He cares for him. When he got the Gym set if you pay close attention, the set is illuminated as though it's on display on a circus or a theater, meaning that he is protected by the White Lodge.
To further emphasis this, his t-shirt is red with white stripes [same concept of the Lodge], the lights are whitish and the set has a golden feel to it. It's a throwback to the old days concept of movie theater [as seen on Episode 8]. You could almost say that the boy is a reincarnation of the Giant/Fireman or Miss Dido [but not really]
That's just crazy...didn't think about all that with the white lodge. I wondered if sonny jim and dougie/coop hit it off because they both looked at the world with childlike wonder or if it was something else connecting them. Nice observations. I don't know about the gym set meaning he's protected though...
shareLynch has a visual way of telling the audience things about the characters instead of using dialog. Colors are important to describe the characters in general. If they are in a room, there will be an object there to indicate not only the kind of character we are seeing but also his relationship to the overall mood and story [green or red lamps on tables as per example; and also owls and mirrors].
I appreciate the insight, i really do, but please don't feel the need to explain to me about david lynch. Ive probably been watching his stuff longer than you've been alive. I don't mean that in a rude way.
sharelol, no probs man. Many people enjoy Lynch stuff but are oblivious to the very small things that compose his imagery [same thing happens with Kubrik stuff].
shareAnd don't forget about the boobs. Never forget the boobs.
shareLong live the boobs. Lynch knows about boobs.
shareSeems to be the word of the week!

(From the last episode of Dark Matter.)
What am i going to do with you briganza? You've encouraged this impressionable kid, and he has now begun a whole thread dedicated just to boobs! I blame you for this.
shareBoobs are where it's at...I guess.
shareYeah i guess. (I can't find the eye rolling emoji)
shareBoys will be boys.
shareOh don't i know it. Im not really offended, just amused...
sharebeeeewwwwwwbs
sharelol
shareDavid Lynch would love it that we talk about him and boobs in the same sentence.
shareYes, he sure would. If anyone loves boobs, it's lynch.
shareI prefer his boobs of old though. Some of these tall, lanky bitches in s3 just seem unnatural.
shareIn days of old, when knights were bold
The Net was not invented
Lynch showed us boobs of small-town rubes
And we had to be contented.
Today we get the Internet
Which offers untold riches
Lynch now must please with Japanese
And tall and lanky bitches.
Clever, briggs. That was kindof brilliant.
shareHe shows a great appreciation for the female. And an exquisite eye for the female body as well.
One of the scenes he did I really enjoyed was the girl in Mulholland Drive masturbating while crying out of rage and despair.
He seems to have a penchant for showing fragility mixed with ferocity that very few others successfully have put on screen [the only other example that pops into my mind is Sada from In the Realm of the Senses]
This is very true.
sharesqueeeeeeebs!
