Release Window: Wishful thinking or hopeless optimism

Let’s just translate the most important part while deducing the year from the context of the news:
May 2017!

Coming from the Italy branch, it’s unknown whether this air date also applies to Sky Atlantic’s channels in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and Austria.

May 2017 corresponds with Showtime’s projected premiere in next year’s second quarter, although the series’ original home may want to lead the parade by premiering Twin Peaks sooner than its partner networks. One Sky Upfront attendee even overheard January 2017 for the U.S. premiere, but don’t let that rumor get you too excited yet. Either way, here’s looking at you, Showtime!

Meanwhile, Sky Atlantic HD already aired reruns of the first two seasons and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

I would be entirely happy with a May 2017 release, but that is referring to the foreign broadcast in Italian,

i highly doubt the rumor of January 2017, primarily because showtime hasn't began playing twin peaks from the beginning, it will take around 30 weeks to air the first two seasons week to week, i mean they could just do a marathon, but they payed all this for the rights i assume they will play it weekly, and then do a marathon the weekend before it airs, as well January doesn't fit into the Quarter 2 predictions.

But one can hope,

Italian Sky always follow the worldwide premieres of their major releases, down to broadcasting the thing at four in the morning. If they say it's May in Italy, it's May in the States.
