Spoilers!!!

Hi are you start reading the history of twin peaks??How is it??Any details??
Where is Bob now??
What about Agent Cooper??
And what about Laura Palmer??

reply

The book doesn't answer any of those questions.

reply

Nothing too substantial, but some interesting nuggets of information.

There is a fair bit of closure on the bank explosion and how things ended up with Catherine and Ben Horne afterwards. There is also a reference to a meeting between Cooper and Major Briggs, after the events of the final episode.

I would speculate that one of the narrators, Special Agent Tamara Preston, will be the character played by Amanda Seyfried in the new show.

reply

There are a lot of details of things that tie into the show and deepen the show spoilers the Parsons section is very eerie.

reply

I had heard rumors that Amanda Seyfried was playing the daughter of Bobby and Shelly. Could be wrong though.

reply

Correct. Some have speculated Amy Shiels is playing the young FBI agent.

reply

I didn't know that about the casting rumors. I was guessing the Special Agent would be Seyfried based on the fact she is a known name actor and was one of the first principle cast announced.

Someone who has the audio book might be able to clear this up. It looks like they have got the Show's cast to read out the segments narrated by their characters. So whoever is playing Agent Preston could be included in that.

reply

I was mildly surprised that Catherine sold everything to Horne in the end after all, though to be fair, she appeared to have largely forgiven him by the end of season 2.

The reference to that final meeting between Briggs and Cooper was haunting in its brevity. Or should I say in spite of its brevity . . . .

reply

A lot of these chapters seem intended to write out members of the cast who are not returning. I just noticed a footnote reference to Hank Jennings being killed in prison (by a relative of Jean Renault), so that is another confirmed non-return.

Major Briggs' unknown fate creates another cliffhanger. Its a shame that the show will not have the chance to bring back the late Don S Davis, to revive this great character.

reply

To a certain extent, yes. Though I'm a bit surprised at who wasn't mentioned in that vein, such as Leo Johnson, or even more importantly Windom Earle

reply

I would expect we will get some immediate closure on Leo and Earle through dialogue between the returning characters, in the new show. Since Heather Graham isn't returning, Annie might also get similar treatment. Perhaps Donna Hayward too?

A few supporting characters were given some resolution in the book. Dr Jacoby retires to Hawaii, Lana Milford continues to marry rich older men, etc.

reply

It's very suspicious to me that Norma's backstory has been rewritten to completely erase any history of Annie. If they didn't feel her character was of any importnance they could've said she'd moved away, died etc and been done with it. Something's up.

reply

I suppose one explanation might be that this is a dossier prepared by Major Briggs and as such, he may not have any knowledge of Annie, or at least the knowledge that she popped into town and was involved with Cooper leading up to their incident (unlikely but possible). Or perhaps that she wasn't important enough to mention given his concern with others things.

Yes, we know that this is Mark Frost giving us info, but within this particular framework perhaps he is staying true to the character and certain characters just aren't that important. In that regard it's hard to imagine Earle not being mentioned, given his background, involvement with Project Blue Book, etc. Earle even captured the Major and chained him next to Leo!

But as you say, something more may be involved that we may or may not discover later.

reply

Actually, Earle was mentioned in regard to Dale Cooper's history, but it was the same information we knew from the series.

Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way.

reply

How interesting that Lana might have deliberately killed Milford isn't it?

I don't know that Donna would be worthy of mention given the goal and aim of the dossier, but in my second reading of the book I'm going to try to connect all the dots and see if I can find something buried in the narrative.

Still wondering if that black substance that fell from a mysterious craft is the same stuff that is in a pool surrounded by the twelve sycamores and also that which Jacoby was fed by the shamans during his revelation.

reply

What does it say about Harry Truman??

reply

Nothing that we don't already know. I am more interested in the Frank brother who was important in the book, but didn't exist in the series.

reply

Except Jacoby is in the cast list... the plot thickens!
