Mesmerizing
If many aspects of The Vessel bring to mind the works of Terrence Malick, it’s not just in your head. The reclusive auteur serves as executive producer on the film and his regular collaborators, editor, A.J. Edwards, and composer, Hanan Townshend (Knight of Cups, To the Wonder), both contribute to Julio Quintana’s experiment in magic realism. Shot in Puerto Rico’s famous La Perla, the crashing sound of waves on shore informs the anxiety of the surviving locals. Trying to forget the horrible tragedy that took all of the town’s children away, but never being able to escape the sound of the water. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/the-vessel-review/
